Wild Woods

I was out running in the woods today, and wandered into the pine woods to look for fatwood (that's another story and another post!)  As I wandered round looking for stumps I noticed that several of them were covered in scales from pine cones. I guess these are squirrel feeding tables, where they strip the scales away to get at the kernels inside.

Didn't find any fatwood.  But enjoyed finding the squirrel snack bars!
